This month, the Xbox Elite Series 2 Wireless Controller has fallen to its lowest price ever at a leading retailer. Currently, there is a new all-time low due to Best Buy’s latest round of December Doorbuster deals. You can purchase the Xbox Elite Series 2 for just $120 (originally $180) at Best Buy or Amazon. While Amazon is the only retailer matching Best Buy’s Doorbuster, Walmart and Target also offer the controller at a decreased price. Amazon is matching Best Buy’s price, but should either retailer sell out, Walmart and Target have the controller priced a few dollars higher.
Even five years post-launch, the Xbox Elite Series 2 Controller is still our top recommendation for the ultimate premium controller for Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC in 2024.

Pricing Information: As of December 20, Best Buy and Target are the leading retailers assuring delivery by Christmas. Both stores mention the delivery date as December 24 on our end, although this could vary based on your location. That being said, you can order online from Best Buy or Walmart for in-store pickup today.
Just keep in mind that prices may vary slightly depending on the retailer. Amazon is the only retailer currently matching Best Buy’s $120 Doorbuster promotion. The Elite Series 2 is available for $124 at Walmart and $125 at Target.
Xbox Elite Series 2 Core Controller (White)
$98 (was $130)
The main difference between the Core version and the standard model is that the Core only includes the controller. It maintains the same premium design with textured grips, trigger locks, and the ability to swap components. However, it does not come with the four back paddles, four additional sticks, two D-pads, adjustment tool, charging dock, or carrying case.
If you feel you might want additional components in the future, there are many third-party accessories available at affordable prices. We recommend Scuf’s Elite Series 2 Paddles for $20, although they are often discounted to $15. You can also findbulk accessory bundles that are truly quite good for as low as $18.
Price Projections: The actual stores offering delivery before Christmas (as of December 20) include Best Buy and Target. If your local Walmart or Best Buy has the controller available, you can order online for in-store pickup today. Online orders shipped to your address may not arrive until after Christmas from Amazon and Walmart.
Xbox Elite Series 2 Core Controller (Red)
$95 (was $140)
The Elite Series 2 Core Controller in red is available for under $100 at three major retailers, though they all have slightly different prices. Best Buy offers the lowest price at $95, while Target and Walmart are selling the controller at $96 and $98, respectively. Amazon is currently out of stock of this variant. The red Elite Series 2 Core has a $140 MSRP, so you could be saving as much as $45.
Price Projections: As of December 20, Best Buy and Target are providing delivery before Christmas, while Walmart’s offer may not arrive in time. That said, you can order the controller online at Best Buy or Walmart and collect it at your nearest store.
$98 (originally $140)
The blue Elite Series 2 Core Controller is priced at $98 at Amazon, Walmart, Best Buy, and Target. Just like the red variant, the blue model has a retail price of $140, making it a “better” bargain compared to the white edition.
Offer Updates: As of December 20, Best Buy and Target indicate that the controller will arrive before Christmas. You can also purchase online at Walmart or Best Buy and collect it at your nearest store today.
The Xbox Elite Series 2, which launched back in 2019, still feels like the benchmark in the premium controller market. The Elite Series 2’s excellent weight, exceptionally robust design, and high-quality materials make it feel worth its $180 price tag. It’s an absolute steal at $120. Numerous third-party brands have attempted to surpass the Elite Series 2 in recent years, and while a few controllers have come close, most premium wireless alternatives are priced at the same or higher level. This is especially true when the Elite Series 2 is at full price.
Our favorite third-party competitive controllers for Xbox include the Victrix Pro BFG and Razer’s newly launched Wolverine V3 Pro. Each controller has at least one feature that may be considered superior to the Elite Series 2. The Victrix Pro BFG is a modular controller, allowing users to swap the thumbsticks to be offset or aligned. It also includes a six-button combat pad module. Meanwhile, the Wolverine V3 Pro features responsive microswitch face buttons and two additional bumpers along with four rear triggers. Additionally, it incorporates Hall Effect sticks, which is the cutting-edge technology that showcases the aging of the Elite Series 2.
However, Razer’s Wolverine V3 Pro costs $200, while the Victrix Pro BFG typically retails for $180. The Victrix Pro BFG for Xbox is currently on sale for the first time. You can get it in white or black for $160.
