UK Video Games Fund Secures £5.5 Million Investment Package for 2025-2026
The UK Video Games Fund has acquired £5.5 million (approximately $6.7 million) from the nation’s Department for Culture, Media and Sport during a recent Creative Industries event in Gateshead.
According to the UKGF, this financial support will extend throughout the 2025-2026 period and “surpasses all prior annual grants.” In earlier years, the government allocated a respective £5 million and £3 million to the organization in 2023 and 2024.
Fostering growth in the UK’s creative sectors
This funding is also part of a larger £60 million initiative intended to “stimulate growth” within the nation’s creative industry. Of this amount, £40 million was directed toward emerging game developers, British film and music exports, and creative businesses outside of London.
“We’re eager to continue supporting our community in the upcoming year,” shared UK Video Games CEO Paul Durrant. “The times are tough, and hopefully we can play an essential part in the recovery.”
During the Gateshead event, Nandy underscored the “crucial role” of UK developers and their intellectual properties in the nation’s economic development. She further emphasized that the UKGF’s support programs, such as its Tranzfuser graduate initiative and DunDev residential accelerator, “have proven to be significantly influential in fostering growth.”
For new and emerging developers interested in applying for funding, the UKGF indicated that more information on that front would be shared “soon.”
