The free-to-play launch is coming next week
If you’re a fan of video games like EA Sports FC 25 and eFootball, you’ll definitely want to note that a brand new contender has landed on Xbox this week in the form of UFL, and it will transition to a free-to-play model next week!
The early access release has been somewhat under the radar thus far, but it is currently available on the Xbox Store – the catch is that you have to purchase to play early. The basic starter package is priced at £12.49 / $14.99, which offers seven days of early access, some unique customization items, an additional stadium, and 20 million in-game currency.

At Pure Xbox, we are actively preparing a complete review for UFL that will go live very soon, and we have played around 10 matches thus far. If you wish to hear our early impressions, we can say it offers a fun and addictive Ultimate Team-like experience with excellent presentation and an engaging main game mode. The downside is that, currently, there is only one proper game mode (which is entirely online-focused), and while the gameplay feels solid in various aspects, there are definitely areas for improvement, such as reactions, physicality, and ball physics.
In other words, don’t expect perfection if you plan to play UFL in the upcoming weeks, but despite its faults, we are undeniably enjoying it at the moment. If you’re interested, you can either jump in this weekend and spend your money to start, or wait until Thursday, December 5th – that’s when it will become free-to-play for everyone!
