A small contingent of employees in Leamington Spa were retained remotely.

Ubisoft Leamington has officially shut down, following the announcement in January that the UK-based studio was part of the recent layoffs.

This news was disclosed on the developer’s LinkedIn profile. “After many wonderful years, we wish to share the announcement that Ubisoft Leamington has officially closed its doors.”

“We are immensely thankful to our talented staff, whose imagination, enthusiasm, and commitment have left an enduring impact on the games we’ve developed, the experiences we’ve shared, and the community we’ve fostered in Leamington.”

The post indicates that some of the remaining team from the studio will still be present at local business events in Leamington Spa. Back in January, Ubisoft confirmed to GamesIndustry.biz that a “limited number” of employees would transition to remote contracts.

Approximately 100 positions were lost across Ubisoft Leamington and Ubisoft Reflections in Newcastle. Ubisoft attributed this to the need to “focus on projects and cut costs to ensure long-term stability.”
