Ubisoft Brings in Advisors to Guide its Strategic Direction
Murderer’s Creed Shadows postponed by one month due to a series of ongoing evaluations
Ubisoft has engaged consultants to evaluate various “strategic and financial options” following previously initiated strategic and operational assessments.
“We are taking significant measures to reshape Ubisoft to provide top-tier player experiences, improve operational effectiveness, and maximize value generation,” stated Ubisoft CEO and co-founder Yves Guillemot.
“We have recently enlisted advisors and are actively considering a range of strategic and financial options to realize the full value potential of our assets. We believe there exist multiple viable avenues to generate value from Ubisoft’s properties and franchises.”
As part of the ongoing evaluations, Ubisoft has chosen to postpone Murderer’s Creed Shadows by a month.
The game was initially set for release on November 15, 2024, but was delayed to February 14, 2025. The release date has now been rescheduled to March 20, 2025.
“[Ubisoft] is committed to supporting our teams’ efforts to develop the most ambitious Assassin’s Creed installment in the franchise’s history,” added Guillemot.
“[We] have opted to provide an additional month of development for Shadows to better integrate the player feedback collected over the previous three months, which will allow us to fully realize the game’s potential and conclude the year on a strong note.”
During a call with investors following the announcement (as reported by GamesRadar), Ubisoft responded to speculation regarding acquisition talks with Tencent.
“We will not comment on specific rumors that have surfaced in the market,” said CFO Frederick Duguet. “We will update the market if and when a transaction occurs.”
