You are likely familiar with Taki Udon’s creations by now. The modder successfully integrated an OLED display into the Switch Lite, and then proceeded to promote the ‘Super5’ installation kits on the RetroRemake website.
Now, on another note, with the assistance of fellow modder @AzkaliManad, the duo have taken an additional step forward with their Switch Lite enhancements, implementing an OLED screen that displays at 1080p.
According to their social media post, it appears this is indeed a significant milestone in a project that will likely lead to a brand-new installation kit for Switch Lite owners, so we’ll have to wait and see how long it takes for this particular mod to become publicly available.
Nonetheless, it is a considerable achievement, and we can only imagine how stunning a 1080p display would look with the standard 5.5-inch Switch Lite dimensions; certainly much better than the current 720p IPS display we have, that’s for sure.
Nintendo has yet to confirm what type of display the forthcoming Switch 2 will feature, but rumors suggest it might not be an OLED panel. We recently discussed whether this is actually a major concern or not and found that recent advancements in modern LCDs could potentially resolve earlier problems.
