Transformers: Reactivate Cancellation Puts Splash Damage Jobs in Jeopardy

Splash Damage has terminated its 1-4 player online action game, Transformers: Reactivate, putting an unspecified number of jobs in jeopardy.

In a statement, the studio admitted it was a “very challenging” decision, but as a result of the cancellation, “despite all efforts, several positions within the studio are now possibly at risk of redundancy.”

The official statement, however, did not elaborate on the reasons for the game’s cancellation.

“This choice was not made lightly, and it is a tough time for the studio and our staff. We want to take a moment to express our gratitude to the team who worked on Transformers for their commitment and enthusiasm,” the statement conveyed.

“Hasbro has been an outstanding and supportive collaborator throughout this process, and we look forward to the possibility of working with them again. To all the fans, your enthusiasm and encouragement kept us motivated.”

Splash Damage also noted that “although not being able to see the game through to its launch is painful, saying goodbye to friends and colleagues is even harder.”
