Tony Hawk reportedly intervened to acquire Bam Margera in Pro Skater 3 + 4 remake when Activision said ‘no’
Skater and former Jackass star Bam Margera is expected to feature in Activision’s upcoming remake of Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3 + 4, despite being left out of the previously released skater lineup – reportedly due to a last-minute intervention by Tony Hawk himself.
Margera made his debut in the series with Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3 back in 2001 and has appeared in all subsequent iterations. However, fans quickly noticed his absence when the 3 + 4 skater roster was revealed earlier this month, with many speculating that his exclusion may be linked to the personal issues Margera has faced due to his struggles with substance abuse.
Now, it has been reported that Margera will indeed feature in the Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3 + 4 remake at least – although as a late addition following Tony Hawk’s insistence. This was shared by Roger Bagley, co-host of the skating podcast The 9 Club, and noted by VGC.
“Well, here’s the situation,” Bagley explained in a recent livestream. “The game was already finished. Tony reached out to Activision and said, ‘Hey, we need to include Bam in the game’, and they were like, ‘Actually, we can’t’. He insisted, ‘No, you are going to make it happen’, and practically made them arrange for Bam to fly back and get his body scanned and everything else to ensure he would be included in the game.”
Activision has yet to comment on the allegations, but the currently confirmed skater roster – which features classic and new skaters – includes the following: Tony Hawk, Bucky Lasek, Steve Caballero, Kareem Campbell, Geoff Rowley, Andrew Reynolds, Elissa Steamer, Chad Muska, Eric Koston, Rodney Mullen, Jamie Thomas, Rune Glifberg, Bob Burnquist, Rayssa Leal, Chloe Covell, Jamie Foy, Zion Wright, and Yuto Horigome.
