Toadman Interactive Closes Doors, Piranha Games Implements Layoffs

38 staff released from Piranha, 69 staff impacted by Toadman cessation

Last week, the Swedish gaming company Enad Global 7 (EG7) commenced the “wind down” process of Toadman Interactive while letting go of 38 staff from Piranha Games.

EG7 stated that the decision to close Toadman Interactive was due to “ongoing industry difficulties and the studio’s failure to obtain new work-for-hire contracts at a significant rate.”

Recent work-for-hire contracts on upcoming projects, including Crack of Dawn and Cold Iron, are likely to remain secured throughout the planned timeline set for the latter half of 2025.

69 staff and subcontractors will likely be affected by the wind down, with 42 continuing on to complete contracts of secured projects.

In September, Toadman shuttered its offices in Stockholm, Visby, and Oslo, alongside layoffs at its Berlin studio.

Regarding Piranha Games, 38 staff are expected to be released as part of a “business optimization plan” following the launch of MechWarrior 5: Clans.
