We’re just over a year away from the upcoming Super Mario film, yet one voice actor who appeared in the original movie as Spike is already experiencing doubts regarding a possible return.

In a recent conversation with ScreenRant, comedian and actor Sebastian Maniscalco expressed that he lacks much confidence in Foreman Spike making an appearance in the sequel. To be fair, this character was more of a cameo than anything substantial, paying homage to the arcade and NES game Wrecking Crew.

Here’s his humorous take on why he doesn’t believe Spike will be returning:

“So, we visited Universal Studios, and they had a Super Mario store with all the merchandise. I was there with my kids, and I said, ‘Guys, come on. The source also mentions that the main cast has yet to be confirmed for the second Mario movie, although it is fairly easy to speculate who might be returning at this point. Toad’s voice actor, Keegan-Michael Key, stated in October that the sequel will be “a little broader in scope” and will feature some “really amazing Easter Eggs”.

The next Mario film is set to release in the US on April 3, 2026 and in other regions during the same month. According to
