In April 2024, you might recall a surge of excitement when Landfall’s Content Alert launched for PC. This first-person collaborative horror game involves capturing footage of disturbing occurrences and sharing it on ‘SpöökTube’ for likes and notoriety. It was made available for free download for a day at launch, and its unique blend of quirky humor and authentic scares garnered much success.

The Switch has recently seen its fair share of impressive imitators, one of which seems to borrow heavily from Landfall’s creation. Set to release tomorrow (March 13th), Content Alert: Disturbing Filming is… well, let’s just examine the primary artwork, shall we?

Originating from developer BurleaGamesStudio, known for titles such as Street Survival: Homeless Simulator and (the fascinatingly unpretentious) Thief Simulator: Heist Master, this is a single-player experience described on its eShop page as “a cooperative horror game in which you and your companions embark on a hair-raising journey to record frightening content and achieve viral fame.” There’s not much else to say, is there? As of this writing, the authentic Content Alert has received 54,033 user reviews and boasts a ‘Very Positive’ rating on Steam. “6.6 million individuals ended up claiming the game on Steam,” according to Landfall’s official website – it’s no surprise unsavory individuals are trying to cash in on its popularity.

Ironically, Content Alert also bears resemblances to Zeekerss’ Deadly Firm, yet another procedurally generated cooperative survival horror game (currently still in early access) that continues the studio’s tradition of humorous games like Totally Accurate Battle Simulator.

Recently, developer Steelkrill noted that creator ‘COOL DEVS’ blatantly lifted and repackaged The Backrooms 1998 and placed it on the Switch eShop. That game has since been re
