“Discover the submerged remains of Arkham”
- by Ben Kerry
Almost a year ago to this day, Ukrainian developer Frogwares introduced The Sinking City 2 during an Xbox Partner Preview event – and now the team has revealed initial gameplay footage along with a Kickstarter initiative, which has already exceeded its original target just hours after launch.
Indeed, you will spot a brief gameplay clip from the studio above; highlighting some early instances of combat and exploration from the team’s forthcoming title. It resembles very much The Sinking City, enhanced with additional flair and cutting-edge features – which is by no means a drawback, considering how much we relished the first installment.
“Venture into the submerged metropolis of Arkham in this Lovecraftian survival horror game that melds atmospheric exploration, fierce survival, and a profound investigatory system within a realm teeming with cosmic horror and psychological tension.
The Sinking City 2 presents a disquieting, suffocating environment filled with challenging combat, environmental storytelling, and mind-bending revelations. No hand-holding. No safe havens. Just you, the unknown, and the terror awaiting discovery.”
Regarding that Kickstarter initiative, it indeed launched alongside this piece of footage and has already rapidly surpassed the group’s initial funding target. Frogwares was aiming for €100,000 to bring the project to fruition in 2025 – and The Sinking City 2 has already amassed more than twice that amount in contributions thus far.
As revealed during last year’s Xbox Partner Preview showcase, the upcoming title has been confirmed for Microsoft’s Xbox Series X and S consoles, and the last we heard, it was set to launch this year. We’re hopeful that, after such a tremendously successful crowdfunding campaign already, we will see and hear much more about The Sinking City 2 in the coming months.
