The Sims Legacy Reimagined: A Nostalgic Return to the Classics, Minus the Consoles
Update: PC remains the most realistic option for now
Update[]: It is now official — The Sims and The Sims 2 have been re-released today on Steam, EGS, and the EA App. However, a console release appears to be off the table for the time being.
Currently, you can readily purchase The Sims Legacy Series, The Sims 2 Legacy Series, or The Sims 25th Birthday Bundle (at a discounted price) on PC, and most convincingly on PC. Therefore, as many of you speculated in the comments, it looks like these titles will remain enticing solely for PC players at this moment.
It’s a bit disappointing, considering these are beloved classics for many at Nintendo Life and within the industry. Yet, adapting these games to work on consoles may take some effort. Hence, we are not overly surprised.
Nonetheless, the anticipated Switch 2 and its rumored mouse controller could potentially set the stage for a future port, but for now, you’ll have to settle for using your desktop — or navigating via Steam Deck with the trackpads…
For the moment, we’ll have to make do with MySims Cozy Bundle!
Original Story: The first two Sims games are still very well-regarded today, but unfortunately, accessing them legitimately isn’t particularly straightforward. The first was a disc-only release, and the second has long been removed from digital storefronts.
Fortunately, a recent report from Kotaku (thanks to Push Square) paired with an intriguing tease from EA, hints that The Sims and The Sims 2 will be returning to PC very soon. The catch? According to Kotaku’s insiders, it seems that a console release remains “uncertain” as of this writing.
Of course, we are thrilled that these titles will once again be readily accessible for PC users (assuming the reports are accurate, of course), but we would prefer to see them on the Switch.
