You will come across various weapons as you progress in Dynasty Warriors: Origins. Interestingly, it appears that you might not be able to elevate a single weapon’s potency further, and your only option is to seek out a new one. Fortunately, there are indeed methods to further fine-tune and enhance your gear. This is our guide to refashioning and upgrading weapons in Dynasty Warriors: Origins.
Refashion and Upgrade Weapons in Dynasty Warriors: Origins
To clarify, the weapon upgrade and refashion feature in Dynasty Warriors: Origins can only be accessed after completion of the campaign. Therefore, for the most part, you will primarily utilize the equipment pieces dropped by officers. We do not recommend spending gold to obtain new equipment.
Nevertheless, before we delve into the game’s weapon upgrade and refashion mechanics further, we have a few related guides that are definitely worth checking out:

- How Long to Complete the Campaign – This gives you a clear idea of how long it takes to finish the story.
Where to Acquire Duplicates for Weapon Reforging and Upgrading?
The reforging system can also be accessed through any city on the world map. Two options will then appear: Reforge Traits and Reforge Power.
Both actions require that you use/infuse weapons of the same class/tier and name, not just the same type. For example, when using Lances, the Marauding Serpent (tier 5) is not actually compatible with the Marauding Serpent EX (tier 6). As such, you will need several duplicates.
As mentioned, it is advisable to replay battles so that you can collect all kinds of equipment pieces from defeated officers. Purchasing from the weapons shop is definitely an option, but it can be quite expensive, especially since the item you acquire is typically used as infusion material.
How Does Reforging Power Function?
Reforging power is quite straightforward. Select the weapon that needs its power/strength/damage to be enhanced, and choose a duplicate that will serve as infusion material. The duplicate’s upgrade level +1 will be added to the main weapon.
Most weapon upgrade stages are capped at +99. Lastly, note that the value will increase based on the upgrade level of the item being destroyed. Here’s an example:
- Main weapon: Cobalt Storm EX +39
- Duplicate/fodder: Cobalt Storm EX +15
- Your primary weapon gains +16 levels in total. It may become Cobalt Storm EX +55.
How Does Reforging Traits Function?
Reforging traits is a more nuanced procedure, one that you definitely want to keep in mind. Generally, weapons can have several random traits/perks. This mechanic allows you to select specific perks so that you can replace those that you do not prefer. For instance, your favorite weapon has:
- Extends input window for parries.
- Increases damage to officers by 10%.
- Reduces cooldown time for special attacks.
Now, that third trait may not be to your liking, so you might choose to replace it with another perk that suits your preferences.
