It has been nearly 5 years since Islanders offered cozy game enthusiasts a delightful city-building experience. Now, Coatsink has announced the arrival of a sequel, Islanders: New Shores, slated for consoles and PC this summer. The first-look video below showcases how New Shores preserves the engaging elements of the original Islanders while hinting at several new features that will likely be integrated into the gameplay.

Similar to the first game, New Shores allows players to build cities and structures across a series of stunningly beautiful islands and modify them as they see fit. Each level commences with a selection of structures available to players, but they must decide strategically where these structures should be placed to maximize point gains throughout the level. Accumulating points unlocks new structures, paving the way for even greater possibilities.

A noteworthy new feature introduced in New Shores is known as boons. This is a one-time power-up that becomes available at each level as players earn points. Boons enable players to complete some of the more substantial tasks in a single move, including the creation of duplicate structures and the removal of others to make way for something novel. However, boons should be used judiciously, as more challenging levels may require them more than the earlier stages do.

New Shores is also incorporating an additional sandbox mode equipped with a construction system that allows for greater creativity.
