In a public declaration – which the organization mentioned it issues on a “voluntary basis” – it emphasized that the firm is “neither a Chinese military enterprise nor a military-fusion contributor to the Chinese defense industrial base” and asserted that while the claim “does not impact [Tencent’s] operations,” the US Department of Defense made a “error” in publicly categorizing the company as a Chinese military firm.
