Tencent Expands Stake in FromSoftware’s Parent Company, Kadokawa
Tencent has augmented its stake “as part of a financial business partnership.”
Tencent has increased its ownership in FromSoftware’s parent company, Kadokawa, by 1.11%, elevating its total stake to 7.97%.
According to Nikkei, Tencent announced that it raised its stake “as part of a financial business partnership between the acquirer and the issuer.”
This adjustment positions Tencent’s stake in Kadokawa beneath only two other entities, specifically Sony’s, which increased its stake to 10% last December, making it the most significant shareholder of FromSoftware’s parent corporation.
At that time, Kadokawa unveiled a “strategic capital and business partnership agreement,” which enabled Sony to acquire over 12 million new shares in Kadokawa on January 7, 2025, for approximately ¥50 billion.
