Techland Hints at Exciting Future for Dying Light with Multiple New Ventures
As the zombie franchise celebrates its tenth anniversary.
Developer Techland has hinted at plans for “numerous unannounced ventures” within the Dying Light realm – encompassing original video games, board games, and a webcomic – as the zombie franchise marks its tenth milestone.
Dying Light 1 was released on January 26, 2015, and became a significant success for Techland, having sold over 20 million copies by 2022. A sequel arrived in 2022, alongside an 18-hour standalone extension, Dying Light: The Beast, slated to release this summer.
And this is just the beginning of Techland’s aspirations for the Dying Light franchise. The studio has disclosed its intention to develop “numerous unannounced ventures” as it aims to establish the series as the “definitive zombie experience.” According to the developer, these initiatives will “extend beyond video games” and will include board games, a webcomic series, merchandise, and “much more.”
“Our aim is to introduce the world of Dying Light to a larger audience,” Techland states. “With the ongoing support for our currently available titles, the release of Dying Light: The Beast, and beyond, there has never been a more opportune moment to be a fan of Dying Light.”
In the immediate future, Techland is set to launch original updates for Dying Light 1 & 2 “very shortly.” The primary game is expected to feature the return of beloved events along with new rewards and may include a variety of “improvements,” such as enhanced visuals, a remastered soundtrack, and more.
