It was once postponed nearly a year ago
The entire discussion regarding Black Myth: Wukong and its release on Xbox has been quite perplexing. Over the past 10 months, we have seen the game postponed after initially being set for an August 2024 launch date, with Microsoft suggesting it could have turned into a timed exclusive for PlayStation, rumors implying that issues with the Xbox Series S might have played a role, and Xbox chief Phil Spencer refraining from commenting further on the matter.
If we disregard all that, the truth remains that Black Myth: Wukong is still expected to launch on Xbox Series X and Series S sometime in the near future, although it’s understandable that some Xbox enthusiasts are growing anxious.
For what it’s worth, the most recent update actually came at the beginning of the year when the CEO of the developing company mentioned that the “10GB of shared memory” in the Xbox Series S was “challenging to work with.”
Sadly, we have not received any additional important details about when we might expect Black Myth: Wukong on Xbox, and while it certainly could happen at some stage, Xbox fans are left pondering what sort of timeline could be in place.
It’s unfortunate that the situation has not been as transparent as that concerning Baldur’s Gate 3, where Larian Studios faced difficulties with the Xbox Series S port. Fans were kept regularly informed about the issues and the likelihood of resolution, whereas there has been significantly more silence regarding Black Myth: Wukong.
In the end, we are still hopeful that we will get the chance to play this game of the year winner on Xbox sometime in 2025, and it would be fantastic if it could even make an unexpected appearance at the Xbox Games Showcase this summer. A surprise drop would be amazing!
