The renowned Grand Theft Auto producer, Take-Two, has reaffirmed its revenue bookings projections of $5.55 billion to $5.65 billion for the current fiscal year after a “strong” quarter where NBA 2K exceeded internal expectations and Grand Theft Auto V surpassed 210 million total sales.

As noted in the company’s fiscal report for the third quarter ending December 31, 2024, revenue bookings increased by 3 percent year-over-year to $1.37 billion.

Revenue bookings from recurring user spending (which includes live service products such as GTA Online) rose by 9 percent year-over-year and represented 79 percent of total revenue bookings.

Mobile revenue bookings grew by 6 percent, fueled by Zynga titles including Match Factory, Toon Blast, and Words with Friends. However, this growth fell short of the company’s forecast range, primarily due to “underperformance” within Take-Two’s hyper-casual mobile portfolio.

Analyzing these figures, Take-Two reported that NBA 2K25 achieved a “remarkable performance” and has now sold over 7 million copies in the current fiscal year.

The basketball simulation also showed “extremely strong” engagement compared to last year, with recurring user spending increasing by over 30 percent and daily active users rising by nearly 20 percent.

Take-Two preparing for a successful year with GTA VI release on the horizon

Grand Theft Auto V continues to be a significant revenue source for Take-Two nearly 12 years after its launch and has now sold over 210 million copies globally. The game’s multiplayer component, GTA Online, delivered a “strong quarter” and remains one of the top revenue contributors despite an anticipated decrease in recurring user spending.

GTA+ membership, which offers GTA Online players access to various perks and game content, also rose by 10 percent year-over-year.

Continuing with Rockstar, Take-Two highlighted that Red Dead Redemption 2 is currently experiencing its highest level of concurrent players on Steam and has sold over 70 million copies.

It also confirmed that Grand Theft Auto VI is on track for release in fall 2025 and anticipates that this long-awaited sequel will represent a significant “inflection point” for its business. Take-Two also expects to see other high-profile games launch successfully.

“This calendar year is shaping up to be one of the strongest ever for Take-Two, as we’re set to release Sid Meier’s Civilization VII on February 11th, Mafia: The Definitive Edition in the summer, Grand Theft Auto VI in the fall, and Borderlands 4,” stated Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick.

“We remain committed to investing carefully in our development pipeline and are confident in Zynga’s capability to create new mobile franchises as evidenced by their ongoing success with Match Factory. As we continue to unveil hits, we are highly confident that we will achieve sequential growth in, and record levels of, revenue bookings in Fiscal 2026 and 2027.”
