So, it’s likely that you might have been contemplating just how large the Nintendo Switch 2‘s game cartridges are actually going to be, especially now that we have details of the launch titles’ sizes.
Nintendo’s first-party launch games are all surprisingly small, with Mario Kart World being 23.4GB, while Donkey Kong Bananza clocks in at a modest (by today’s standards) 10GB. Of course, CD Projekt Purple’s sci-fi titan, Cyberpunk 2077, is set to launch on the Switch 2, and it’s considerably larger than your typical Mario adventure!
In fact, the blockbuster action-RPG, which is receiving a special edition for Switch 2, comes in at a staggering 64GB, as stated by a CD Projekt Purple community manager. This same individual, who was conversing with @Beatemups as part of his Youtube channel, further noted that this 64GB is the system’s maximum cartridge size.
When asked if the entire game will fit on the cartridge, here was the reply:
“Yes, we specifically opted for the largest capacity, so 64 gigs.”

If this is indeed the maximum cartridge size, and judging from the sizes of the known first-party games so far, there shouldn’t be many obstacles for Nintendo moving forward. However, is it concerning that a AAA title, which is now several years old, is already taking up a Switch 2 cartridge’s full capacity?
