Stellar Blade surged to remarkable success in 2024, achieving sales of one million copies in just its first two months on the market, prompting developer Shift Up to generously reward all its staff with approximately $3,400 bonuses along with the sought-after PS5 Pro.

Shift Up distributed these rewards during a January 6 event in Seoul, as reported by the Korean site Naver. A company spokesperson conveyed to the gathering – according to a DeepL translation – that “providing bonuses is a method to motivate talent,” and indeed, you can witness the grandeur of this initiative yourself in a video posted by Shift Up on Twitter

We celebrated our SHIFTUP New Year’s event today. Everyone received a PS5 Pro so they can experience Stellar Blade in 4K, right? Oh, and there’s a sneak peek of Lily and Eve…💕#StellarBlade #SHIFTUP #HappyNewYear pic.twitter.com/VihP4Qhnr1January 6, 2025

Staff in their bulky winter coats awkwardly handled bags filled with PlayStation’s latest console as they made their way to the exits of the conference center. Sure, it may not be as breathtaking as the apocalyptic green landscapes of Stellar Blade, but it is still something notable.

Even more impressive, however, is the fact that Stellar Blade dominated 2024 without even being available on PC yet; it is expected to launch on PC sometime in 2025.

There were a few minor incidents during the event, but it all turned out well…🆗#PS5Pro #SHIFTUP pic.twitter.com/3yQPTLk6odJanuary 6, 2025

Nonetheless, the PS5 title received overwhelmingly positive reviews, with our own review praising Stellar Blade’s unique melee combat. The game was also nominated for Best Action Game and Best Score at The Game Awards, with many of its players lamenting the fact that it did not secure a nomination for Game of the Year. I mean, have you seen the scale of protagonist Eve’s um, legendary combos

Stellar Blade developer states no, this RPG shooter is about staring contests with anime characters (which you typically win since they don’t have eyes) is not being adapted into a Netflix anime.
