The extended exclusivity period has now come to an end

Do you recall the PS5 title Forspoken? We have discussed it multiple times here at Pure Xbox, but that was quite some time ago – our initial article concerning the game actually dates back to July of 2022!

Forspoken first made its debut as a PS5 console exclusive on January twenty-fourth, 2023 — and it also received a PC version that indeed made its appearance on the Microsoft Store as well — however, there has been no indication of an Xbox version in the intervening years. The reason for this is that the game had a unique two-year exclusivity period at launch.

Now, we find ourselves at a moment where Forspoken could potentially be ready to launch on Xbox. The PS5 exclusivity window ended earlier this year, and many users have been sharing images of the Xbox Store version on social media today, suggesting that it could be live – although it appears that they are confusing it with the PC version.

It’s important to clarify that there is no official release date for Forspoken on Xbox as of now, but the conclusion of its exclusivity period implies that it could launch anytime after January twenty-fourth (2025). The question remains, how much do Xbox enthusiasts desire it?

This is a game that garnered somewhat mixed reviews at its release in 2023, achieving a Metacritic score of 64 and receiving a “Fair” 6/10 from our colleagues at Push Square – here’s what they had to say about it at that time:

“Forspoken should have and could have been a superior game than it truly is. Its merits lie in its fundamental gameplay, which is swift, fluid, and exceptionally enjoyable at its peak. However, unnecessary open-world distractions hinder exploration, and the combat system only starts to gain momentum several hours into the journey. If you can navigate through a poorly paced narrative, filled with painfully bland characters, then you might discover enjoyment in Frey’s incredible abilities, which undoubtedly…”
