We can ponder about a!

It appears that the excitement of the week has revolved around whether or not Steam will be making its way to the upcoming Xbox console. Although it may take a while until we discover the answer, it’s still an enjoyable topic to discuss!

Personally, I have numerous titles in my Steam library that would be a perfect match for my Xbox console, although some undoubtedly would necessitate a mouse and keyboard as well. Football Manager 2024 comes to mind, for instance, as does a large MMO like Star Wars: The Old Republic – the possibilities are certainly endless. Just glancing at the “Top Sellers” list on Steam right now, titles such as R.E.P.O. and Wreckfest 2 are not available on Xbox at the moment, so Steam integration would allow us to access these games much sooner than we can today.

I anticipate the modding opportunities would also be incredibly enticing with something like this. eFootball PES 2021 is a title I’ve played on both Xbox and PC, but the latter version captures all my attention because of the mods. Some Xbox games incorporate mods that work remarkably well, but opening things up to the Steam Workshop and beyond would be fantastic!

It’s worth mentioning that the potential aspect that could make Steam so appealing to Xbox gamers — and likely a reason why it might not happen after all — is that it would offer more chances to purchase games at lower prices. The Microsoft Store would suddenly face competition from Steam, the Epic Games Store, and others, which seems somewhat counterintuitive.

Who knows, though? It’s hard to grasp what Microsoft is contemplating at this moment, and the leaked image showcasing a Steam tab alongside a host of devices including two Xbox consoles certainly raised everyone’s hopes.

It’s probably nothing… but if Steam were to return to Xbox, which games would you want to play on it?
