Sonic the Hedgehog 3 is now accessible for rental or purchase on streaming services, including Amazon Prime Video, priced at $20 for rental and $25 for purchase. The streaming release coincided with the announcement of the 4K Blu-ray release date and the availability of not one, but two steelbook editions. Sonic the Hedgehog 3’s Junior Edition Steelbook is set to launch with artwork featuring either Sonic or Shadow characters when the film hits Blu-ray on April 15. This follows a similar trend we observed with Deadpool & Wolverine last year, making it interesting to see if this becomes a common practice.
Sonic the Hedgehog 3 Junior Edition Steelbook (4K Blu-ray)
$45 | Releases April 15
The first Junior Edition Steelbook for Sonic the Hedgehog 3 showcases the Blue Blur in action. This version includes 4K Blu-ray, standard 1080p Blu-ray, and digital copies of Sonic 3. Additionally, you will receive a collection of bonus featurettes.
Preorders for the Sonic-themed Junior Edition Steelbook are available at Walmart for $45.
Amazon had been accepting preorders for several weeks, but as of January 21, Sonic 3 is no longer listed for preorder on Amazon. That said, we don’t believe it’s sold out, as the standard 4K and DVD editions are also unavailable for purchase. We anticipate that Amazon will reopen preorders once it lists the Shadow variant of the Junior Edition Steelbook.
Amazon and Walmart both offer preorder price guarantees. You will not be charged until your order ships, and you will only pay the lowest price.
