Shock Legends Studio Secures $1 Million to Launch Innovative Transmedia Project
Polish creator Shock Legends Studio has secured $1 million in a recent pre-seed funding round. According to GamesIndustry, the studio is allocating these funds towards developing a game prototype and pre-production for an engaging series set in a world that blends elements of steampunk with Greek mythology.
In addition to previously obtaining an Epic Games Megagrant, Shock Legends’ two projects are being co-funded by various organizations. The game enjoys the support of the national Creative Industries Development Center, while the series is backed by the Polish Film Institute.
According to the outlet, the funding round was spearheaded by the SMOK Ventures Fund. Both the planned game and series are being developed using Unreal Engine 5 and are projected for release in late 2027 or early 2028.
Shock Legends was founded in 2021 by game director Artur Malczyk and lead narrative producer Wojciech Karubin. Malczyk previously served as a cinematic director and supervisor at Flying Wild Hog (Shadow Warrior), while Karubin founded the Polish film studio Film Mates.
In a statement to GamesIndustry, Malczyk and Karubin conveyed their confidence that their studio “holds the potential to emerge as the next significant IP from our nation, enhancing the status of Poland’s creative sector. We are excited to have completed the pre-seed round with SMOK Ventures as the primary investor, especially in a market as challenging as it is today.”
