Second Dinner Closes U.S. Publishing Deal to Avoid Another Shock Snap Ban

Marvel Snap creator Second Dinner is relocating nearly all operational and publishing functions in-house to ensure the mobile game stays available in the United States.

This announcement follows Marvel Snap being temporarily suspended in the U.S. due to its associations with TikTok’s parent company ByteDance, which also owns the publisher Nuverse.

While Marvel Snap (and TikTok) have been permitted to resume activities in the country for now, the long-term outlook for services related to the Chinese corporation ByteDance remains uncertain.

Last week, Second Dinner indicated it aimed to establish a permanent solution and has decided to handle publishing and operational duties for Marvel Snap with assistance from U.S. publisher Skystone Games.

“We appreciate your incredible support and patience during the recent outage in the U.S. As we are available for download on mobile app stores once more, we’re thrilled to share some information about the path forward for Marvel Snap,” reads a statement placed on X.

“To ensure this does not occur again, and with the backing of our current publisher Nuverse, we have already signed agreements and initiated efforts to bring nearly all operational and publishing responsibilities in-house at Second Dinner, with support from a new U.S.-based publisher, Skystone Games.”

The rapid changeover was described as a “collaborative effort” among Second Dinner, Nuverse, Skystone, and Marvel.

Skystone presents itself as a “next-generation multiplatform gaming company designed for worldwide audiences.” The full-service publisher has worked on PC, console, and mobile games including Timeless, Hellcard, Tyrant’s Realm, and Land Above Sea Below.
