The lead character of Barbie, Ryan Gosling, is allegedly in discussions to join the cast of a new Star Wars film helmed by Deadpool & Wolverine director Shawn Levy. If this is validated, Gosling could become the first official cast member of the unnamed film.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Levy’s Star Wars project has been under development since 2022, with his regular collaborator, Jonathan Tropper, writing the script. Gosling, who rose to fame with the 2004 romantic drama The Notebook, recently captivated audiences as Ken in Barbie, earning him a nomination for Best Supporting Actor at The Academy Awards.

Despite these essential details, there is not much more information available about the movie, which is not surprising, as Disney has traditionally been secretive about its internal Star Wars projects.

THR indicates that Levy’s film will not be related to the Skywalker Saga, which revolves around iconic characters such as Luke and Anakin Skywalker. It is also said to be a standalone film. Other than these specifics, we’re largely in the dark for now.

Fortunately, Levy’s film isn’t the only significant Star Wars project underway at the moment, and surprise, surprise, we actually know quite a bit about some of them, including The Mandalorian & Grogu.
