A brand-new co-op survival game
Out of the blue today, we received news about a brand-new RuneScape game! This is not actually a continuation of the MMO series, as it is a completely independent co-op survival adventure arriving on Steam in Spring 2025, and hopefully on Xbox the following year.
The game is officially titled RuneScape Dragonwilds, and here’s how the RuneScape team describes it:
In the forgotten expanse of Ashenfall within RuneScape, dragons have awakened. Explore, create, master skills, and craft to survive in this co-op (1-4 players) survival crafting game. Only by mastering survival and unearthing ancient secrets can players hope to defeat the Dragon Queen—whether alone or with companions.
Traverse a vast, handcrafted landscape ravaged by Anima. This fresh adventure merges Epic Narrative, light RPG elements, and iconic RuneScape lore into a never-before-seen continent. Venture into a realm hidden for ages, discover ancient mysteries, and battle legendary RuneScape creatures alongside entirely new foes such as the fearsome Garou. Prepare yourself for a world filled with intrigue, danger, and unforgettable experiences.
Much of the coverage surrounding RuneScape Dragonwilds is focused on the PC early access launch, but the team at IGN mentioned that a “broader release (including console)” is expected to occur in 2026.
