Less than a week left to dash until launch!

Atomfall is the next notable title to arrive on Xbox Game Pass in March 2025, launching in just six days on March 27th. Reviews have actually gone live quite early – at least, some of the reviews have been published.

This is yet another case where the Xbox codes appear to have been sent out rather late, as there are 23 reviews for PS5 but only 2 for Xbox Series X, for example. We do have code here at Pure Xbox, but we need a bit more time before we share our ‘hands-on’ impressions of the game ahead of the launch next week.

GamesRadar (4.5/5)

“With a meticulously crafted world, and a level of player freedom seldom seen, Atomfall already stands as one of the best offline adventures 2025 has to offer. Most impressively, it’s eager to enable as many players as possible to join in the fun.”

DualShockers (8.5/10)

Immersive Sims are notoriously challenging to create, and Atomfall deserves significant commendation for defying expectations and showcasing an open-world style that rejects nearly every conventional trend.

Push Sq. (8/10)

“Atomfall wholeheartedly embraces what it means to be British, and it emerges all the better for it. The enigma at the core of the alternate 1960s backdrop is fascinating, constantly dropping hints and solutions to escape its rural isolation. Its combat mechanics slightly detract from the overall experience, but Rebellion’s latest shines when it transforms you into the countryside’s own Inspector Gadget with a variety of leads to follow and locals to suspect.”

IGN (8/10)

“Despite some enemy behaviors that can be as unstable as a reactor in meltdown, Atomfall weaves a captivating, post-apocalyptic survival narrative that effectively responds to your choices and discoveries regardless of the direction you pursue.”

TechRadar (3.5/5)

“Atomfall reinterprets a cheerful expedition to the Lake District as a struggle for survival, a fresh concept that leaves a lasting impression. While not all choices feel consequential, its quintessentially British charm and stunning visual aesthetics compensate for these shortcomings, offering an engaging journey through the countryside… armed with firearms.”

Eurogamer (3/5)

“If you can get past a challenging beginning and are keen for a streamlined interpretation of the survival genre, Atomfall offers an intriguing storyline worth exploring.”

Digital Trends (2.5/5)

“It’s an experimental sandbox that gives the studio an opportunity to diverge from the franchise it has concentrated on for the past decade and see what else it can achieve with its design skills. I can’t claim that it entirely works, as its narrow scope doesn’t allow any of its interesting ideas enough space to flourish, but perhaps this is essential for survival.”
