Rocksteady Breaks the Mold: Suicide Squad’s Release Schedule Shifts Dramatically

Rocksteady Studios has announced that it will cease support for Suicide Squad less than a year after its launch.
In a blog shared on the official website, developer Rocksteady revealed that the game’s forthcoming fourth season – anticipated to be launched within the new year – will likely mark its conclusion.
Episode 8, set to debut on January 14, may be the final segment of post-launch content.
The game will remain available and playable after January 2025, but no additional DLC or content will be offered moving forward. Furthermore, the upcoming offline mode will become accessible on December 10, allowing players to engage with the game without an internet connection.
Shortly after release, Warner Bros acknowledged that Suicide Squad “[fell] short of expectations],” a statement compounded by the harsh comparison to the launch of Hogwarts Legacy during the same period the previous year.
The company’s Studios division (which includes TV, film, and games) incurred a $200 million loss during Q1 2024, with Suicide Squad identified as a significant factor, while game revenue dropped by 41% in the subsequent quarter (again, partly attributed to the title’s comparison with Hogwarts Legacy).
