When we began covering the Xbox Game Pass Quests (and concurrently, the Microsoft Rewards) initiative back in 2020 here at Pure Xbox, there were numerous game-specific tasks that players were required to complete for points. These tasks tended to be lengthy and complex, which led us to create an extensive Game Pass Quests guide – ultimately proving to be quite popular.
As time went on, we became familiar with a YouTube channel named Rewards Hunter, which provided excellent video tutorials for every Xbox Game Pass Quest on a weekly basis, often within just a few hours of their release. The channel was so reliable that we inquired whether we could feature their videos in our Pure Xbox guides, to which they kindly agreed.
However, changes have occurred with Microsoft Rewards over the last few years, and a recent overhaul to the Xbox Game Pass Quests system has led the owner of the Rewards Hunter channel to decide to shut it down.
It has been quite some time since players needed to complete any sort of game-specific tasks to earn Microsoft Rewards points, but in early 2024, achieving achievements was still a requirement – a service the channel continued to provide for gamers.
That is no longer true with the new system, which removes the necessity of completing achievements (a change that has indeed been mostly well-received) in favor of simply playing games consistently on a daily and/or weekly basis.
As you may have noted, the owner of the Rewards Hunter channel is handling this transition, but has also created a video discussing their perspective on how the Xbox Game Pass Quests system has experienced a “decline” over the years.
