Update[
And there you have it! Following our early glimpse this morning, Nintendo has officially announced the ‘LEGO Super Mario: Mario Kart – Mario & Standard Kart’ set, rolling into stores on 15th May.

This set will cost you £149.99 and is currently available for pre-order from the LEGO website. Plus, you might even receive the mini Toad’s Pit Crew set as a complimentary gift with your purchase — almost makes that price worthwhile, doesn’t it?

According to the Australian LEGO Authorized Retailers listing, the ‘LEGO Super Mario: Mario Kart – Mario & Standard Kart’ set (good and quick, right?) is set to launch on 15th May for $249.99 AUD, which is approximately £122 / $158. And it seems this one is for adults only, apparently containing 1,972 pieces and earning itself an adult ’18+’ age rating in the process.
Despite that hefty price tag and adult age rating, the set appears to be genuinely impressive. It’s one of the more intricate interpretations of both Mario and his kart that we’ve seen from an official LEGO creation to date, and the posable limbs and stand seem to contribute to a wonderfully dynamic display piece.

Although it’s not exactly an official announcement, Bricks Megastore is the prime source for all authorized LEGO stores across Australia and New Zealand, so we’re operating under the assumption that this initial view could indeed be the real thing.
With this year’s MAR10 Day finally upon us, we can only assume that Nintendo will
