
Reviving Tradition: Konami Breathes New Life into Classic JRPGs with Suikoden
A fresh role-playing journey set in the world of Suikoden is on the horizon, but there is a catch.
It has been years since we last received a Suikoden title. In fact, the last main entry debuted in February 2006, making it nearly twenty years ago (seriously, where has all the time gone?!). This makes last night’s reveal from Konami quite exhilarating – a new installment in the Suikoden series is on the way, and it appears gorgeous, featuring pixel art reminiscent of the classic games.
It’s titled Suikoden Star Leap, and it will take place “a few years prior to the events of Suikoden 1, but a couple years after Suikoden 5.” The forthcoming game promises “vibrant” environments to explore and new characters alongside some familiar faces. However, as I mentioned, there is a catch. You see, this is the “first title to be adapted for mobile,” and the developer has confirmed it will include gacha mechanics.

We do not have a release date yet for Suikoden Star Leap, as Konami has simply stated it will be available “soon.” The team will provide further details as part of an upcoming announcement, so stay tuned.
