The company will concentrate on titles that align with the busy lives of gamers.

A collective of industry veterans has established a new publisher, Cooldown Games, that aims to deliver high-quality video games for PC and consoles.

The firm was created by seven seasoned publishing executives, who have previously held positions at Gearbox Publishing, Id Software, Warner Bros, and other notable companies.

The co-founders include chief product officer Matt Charles, chief business officer Erick Cobbs, chief operations officer Jackson Hardesty, chief revenue officer Brad Schliesser, chief technology officer Jimmy Sieben, and chief marketing officer Jeff Skal.

They will be guided by CEO Steve Gibson, who was formerly the president of Gearbox Publishing. Collectively, the team has decades of experience in game publishing, having launched eight games that have sold over a million copies.

Cooldown Games will place a strong emphasis on titles that can “effortlessly integrate into the demanding work-and-play lifestyle of contemporary gamers,” according to their announcement, specifically games that can “be enjoyed at their own pace without requiring substantial time commitments to engage or keep up.”

“Our team is confident that smart business strategies will be a lasting advantage for Cooldown Games, and this could provide a refreshing alternative to many current industry trends,” stated Gibson.

“My enthusiasm for helping game developers reach as many players as possible, while ensuring a fulfilling experience for everyone involved, is central to our mission.”
