Former Mute Hill art director Masahiro Ito, who is responsible for igniting many of our fears by designing Pyramid Head, has shared some delicate concept art of creatures he claims still reside in his imagination and could appear in future projects.

Ito initially posted the images below in August 2022, but he recently re-posted them on Twitter following Konami‘s latest reveal of Mute Hill f, the next main game in the series. To be clear, the connection between Ito’s recent tweet and the new Mute Hill f trailer is weak at best, but the timing is significant.

These are some creature concept sketches I created in 2016. They weren’t selected at that time, but still remain in my head, and their offspring might be present in any future titles. https://t.co/ihPO7cvC3rMarch 20, 2025

“These are some creature concept sketches I produced in 2016,” Ito remarked. “They weren’t chosen back then, but they still exist in my mind, and their descendants may appear in any future titles.”

As far as we know, Ito is not involved with Mute Hill f at all and most likely is not suggesting that his concept art will be utilized in any upcoming Mute Hill game. However, I would believe there would be a significant interest from horror game developers if his work became available.

While Mute Hill f is not benefiting from Ito’s iconic art, there is another legendary figure associated with the game: Higurashi When They Cry creator Ryukishi07, who is penning the story for f and recently stated he worked so diligently on it that “I don’t think I would mind if it was the last thing I ever wrote.”

The director of the Mute Hill 2 remake noted that he had to make Pyramid Head “more aggressive and faster” during his iconic encounter: “We’ve been losing something, but we’ve been gaining something, too.”
