A new year has commenced, and Pokemon Go is celebrating with a variety of events and new launches. The game’s Dual Destiny season carries on with the introduction of several new Pokemon, such as Fidough and Mega Gallade, as well as new Spotlight Hours and raid challenges.

In addition to this, the game will hold its yearly Community Day and Lunar New Year festivities this month, along with two Community Days and a fresh Steeled Resolve event. You can find all that’s happening in Pokemon Go this January 2025 below.

January Raid Schedule

Pokemon Go is refreshing its raid lineup once again this January.

This month will see the return of multiple beloved legendaries, including Palkia, Attack and Defense Forme Deoxys, and Dialga. The Mega Raid bosses this month will feature Mega Lopunny, the debuting Mega Gallade, and Mega Medicham.

January Spotlight Hours

Pokemon Go’s weekly Spotlight Hour events are continuing in January, offering a fresh lineup of featured Pokemon and bonuses.

Every Tuesday evening from 6-7 PM local time, one specific Pokemon will appear more frequently in the wild, providing an excellent opportunity to complete your Pokedex and stock up on candy. Additionally, you can take advantage of a bonus during that hour, such as double XP or Stardust for capturing Pokemon.

Pokemon Go is kicking off the new year with a Fidough Fetch event taking place from January 3-7.

During this event, players will experience enhanced chances of encountering shiny forms of Voltorb and Electrike. Pokemon Go will also introduce a series of global challenges that trainers worldwide will collaborate to complete. As players collectively accomplish these objectives, the game will unlock additional rewards, including the primary opportunity to catch the fairy Pokemon Fidough.

Furthermore, several small Pokemon will appear more frequently in the wild throughout the event, along with themed Field Research tasks to complete. You can view the full list of wild Pokemon and event bonuses below:

The first Community Day of 2025 for Pokemon Go is set for January 5 and will feature Sprigatito, one of the three starters from Scarlet and Violet.

Between 2 PM and 5 PM local time, the grass-type cat Pokemon will spawn more frequently in the wild than usual, giving you multiple chances to catch it—as well as the opportunity to encounter a shiny Sprigatito.

In addition to the increased Sprigatito spawns, the game will offer free, event-themed Field and Timed Research tasks to complete, along with a paid Special Research storyline. A range of bonuses will be active during the event, including triple Stardust and double Candy for catching Pokemon.

Finally, any Floragato that you evolve into Meowscarada by 10 PM local time will gain the special Charged Attack Frenzy Plant.

Fashion Week

The yearly Fashion Week celebration in Pokemon Go will take place from January 10-19. More details will be revealed as the event approaches.

Mega Gallade Raid Day

A new Mega Pokemon will be introduced when Pokemon Go holds a Mega Gallade Raid Day on January 11.

From 2 PM to 5 PM local time, Mega Gallade will be available in gyms as a Mega Raid boss. Not only will you earn Mega Energy after defeating it, but you’ll also have a higher chance to find a shiny Gallade.

Moreover, Pokemon Go is increasing the number of Remote Raid Passes you can hold to twenty, and you will be able to claim up to five additional free Raid Passes simply by spinning the Photo Disc at gyms during this event.

Fashion Week: Taken Over

The notorious Team Rocket will be crashing the event and taking over Fashion Week from January 15-19.

Shadow Raid Day

Fashion Week will conclude with a Shadow Raid Day on January 19.

Steeled Resolve

Pokemon Go is hosting a brand-new event called Steeled Resolve from January 21-26. This occasion will likely focus on Steel-type Pokemon, but more information will be provided at a later date.

The second Community Day of January will occur on January 25. Additional details, including the featured Pokemon, will be disclosed as the date approaches.

Lunar New Year

Pokemon Go will celebrate the Lunar New Year from January 29-February 2.
