No more fooling around

Umamusume: Pretty Derby truly made an impression in 2025, didn’t it? Although things have settled a bit now, for a period you couldn’t escape the anime horse girls.

The game remains well-liked, of course, but what if you’re looking for something a tad more grounded in reality? Well, publisher Leonardo Interactive has revealed Champions Stable: Equestrian Dynasty, focusing on real jockeys and horses, and there’s (presumably) a scarcity of post-race songs.

Here’s the announcement trailer:

Set to launch on PC and consoles in 2026, Champions Stable is an “open world horse racing management simulation” crafted using Unreal Engine.

You’ll be able to directly steer your horse during competitions, or you can observe the action from an aerial perspective, keeping a closer eye on all the statistics as you oversee your team.

Here’s a bit more information on what the game involves:

“Every choice counts. From breeding and finances to training routines and facility enhancements, Champions Stable replicates a living, dynamic world where every statistic and gene can determine your success or failure. Engage in live auctions, scout opponents, and meticulously plan your genetic bloodlines to breed the upcoming generation of champions. Players can contest across authentic legendary circuits recreated in remarkable detail including Ascot, Tokyo Racecourse, Churchill Downs, Flemington, Longchamp, Capannelle, and Meydan.”

It seems quite intricate; you can explore in an open world outside of races, and also care for your horses by grooming them and forming connections with them.

We can only presume this is aiming for PS5 upon its arrival next year, and if that’s the case, it’ll be fascinating to observe if the team can adapt the management game effectively to the DualSense.
