Consoles and accessories are also experiencing price hikes

Microsoft has revealed that it is increasing the prices of all Xbox Series X|S consoles, accessories, and games, starting today. Of particular concern for PS5 users, the Xbox titles that Microsoft ported to Sony’s latest console will henceforth be priced at $80.
Games that have already been ported, such as Indiana Jones and the Great Circle and Forza Horizon 5, will not be subject to the price rise. Nevertheless, starting from the “holiday season,” Xbox games will carry a price tag of $80. Without the Game Pass subscription on PS5, this amount reflects the cost involved in accessing Microsoft’s ports. It is worth noting that Nintendo initiated this pattern with the upcoming Switch 2 launch title Mario Kart World.
The Xbox Series X|S systems and related accessories are also seeing an uptick in pricing. The Series S consoles will increase by $80, while the Series X models will rise by $100. Consequently, the 2TB Xbox Series X model in Galaxy Black will now be priced $30 higher than the upgraded PS5 Pro.
Exclusive edition controllers and the Xbox Wireless Headset are also now facing a $10 increase.
In the UK, the price for an Xbox Series S with a 512GB SSD will be £299.99, while the Xbox Series X is set to be £499.99. The digital variant of the Series X will be £50 less expensive.
A piece by Windows Central indicates that Xbox games may still experience some pricing variance according to their scale. Thus, not every Xbox port should necessarily cost $80; smaller titles may be less expensive.
This move sees Microsoft following Sony’s path regarding the inflation of its current-gen systems, as the PS5 recently saw price increases in the UK, Europe, Australia, and New Zealand last month. Several more ports from Microsoft are anticipated soon, including Halo and Gears of War collections. Expect to pay $80 to access these on PS5.
