Shamisensual

As pledged during the game’s State of Play in-depth exploration, two music pieces extracted from Ghost of Yotei are now available for streaming on platforms such as Spotify and Apple Music.
The original soundtrack of the game is composed by Japanese artist Toma Otowa, who has contributed to various types of music in both Hollywood films and video games.
Sucker Punch characterizes the soundtrack as a fusion of traditional Japanese instruments — including the iconic shamisen — along with Western influences. We believe these two tracks clearly convey that sentiment.

The two specific tracks being mentioned are Atsu’s Theme — which is quite self-explanatory — and The Yotei Six, presumably the motif of the game’s primary antagonists. Given the excellence of these tracks, we are eager to discover what the complete release will sound like.

Robert (or Rob if you’re feeling informal) serves as an assistant editor for Push Square, and has been passionate about PlayStation since the 90s, when Tekken 2 exposed him to the extraordinary realm of video gaming. He still approaches his fighting games earnestly, but RPGs remain his true love. The Witcher, Persona, Dragon Quest, Mass Effect, Final Fantasy, Trails, Tales — he has played them all. Perhaps a bit excessively, some might argue.
