Square Enix stalwart Tetsuya Nomura has offered an uncommon status briefing on the next chapter of Final Fantasy 7 Remake and the perpetually-in-the-oven Kingdom Hearts 4.
Production is evidently humming along!
Appearing during today’s second-anniversary stream for the mobile title Final Fantasy 7: Ever Crisis, the creative lead tackled fan speculation before it could snowball.
His remarks, rendered in English by Gematsu, were:
“Scanning the chat, I keep spotting questions about the Remake trilogy’s finale. It seems [co-director Motomu] Toriyara hinted in some interview that news might coincide with Ever Crisis’ two-year mark, hence the buzz. Anyway, everything is tracking perfectly. I’d love to elaborate, but if I blurted out the wrong clause the internet would implode.”

Nomura went on to confirm that the “street date” for the concluding Final Fantasy 7 Remake episode is “already set in stone,” though he predictably kept the calendar to himself.
On the topic of Kingdom Hearts 4 he noted:
“Scattered comments here ask about Kingdom Hearts 4—rest assured, that project is also advancing on schedule, so stay tuned.”
While the trilogy capper for Final Fantasy 7 Remake remains unannounced, new PS5 screenshots of Kingdom Hearts 4 surfaced earlier this year, fuelling chatter about an impending reveal. Alas, neither a release frame nor platform list has followed.
