On the beach
- by Sammy Barker

If you’re looking for a little something to scratch your cosy game itch on PS5, then Starsand Island may do just the trick.
This new trailer, uploaded by Gematsu from indie game expo Bit Summit, focuses on the traversal and customisation in the full release.
There’s a lot to it, but you’ll see in the embedded video that you can buy a car, ride a scooter, wear rollerblades, use a skateboard, or even paraglide through the game’s idyllic anime world.
Here’s what the official press release says:
“Players will be able to skate, ride, drive, and fly a range of vehicles, including skateboards, rollerblades, cars, scooters with (and without) sidecars, and even a paraglider, across the island’s lush pastures, green- and amber-hued woodlands, glistening sandy beaches, and the surrounding azure seas. Amphibious craft will also be available, enabling seamless land and water traversal, further expanding players’ horizons.”
The game itself – described as a “journey for the soul” – will feature farming, exploration, and more. You’ll also be able to befriend up to 40-plus NPCs, and yes you’ll be able to invite them to ride shotgun with you in your car.
Developer Seed Lab says it’ll also be announcing more about the release’s multiplayer ahead of its launch later this year, so keep your eyes and ears peeled for that. We love what we’ve seen so far, though.
