Life Is Strange is the latest video game to be getting a live action adaptation, and we can’t think of a better writer than The End of the F***ing World’s Charlie Covell.
The British dark comedy deals with the “relationship” between two teenage tearaways, as one runs away from home and the other tries to engineer opportunities to murder her.
The scribe seems like a good fit for Life Is Strange, which is a series about youngsters in extraordinary situations.
The show will air on Amazon Prime, with Story Kitchen executive producers Dmitri M. Johnson, Mike Goldberg, and Timothy I. Stevenson all involved.
A statement from Story Kitchen, as exclusively revealed by Variety, says:
“Story Kitchen has always believed that Life Is Strange deserved to be more than just a game – it’s a cultural touchstone. After a decade-long journey, we’re honoured to be bringing this beloved story to Amazon MGM alongside our incredible partners at Square Enix, our brilliant showrunner/writer Charlie Covell, and the amazing team at LuckyChap. Together, this thoughtfully assembled dream team is ready to share Life Is Strange with the world in an entirely new way!”
We assume the TV series will focus on the relationship between Max and Chloe in the original game, which still remains Life Is Strange’s high point.
Life Is Strange: Double Exposure, the latest entry in the franchise, attracted a mixed reaction from fans – partly due to the way it handled moments from the first game.
We said the series had “lost its charm” in our 6/10 review – a fairly scathing response to a franchise that has pretty much always traded on its character.
