Available now on music streaming services

In advance of the game’s launch next week on the 2nd of October, developer Sucker Punch has released the Ghost of Yotei soundtrack — or at any rate a substantial portion of it — on music streaming services.
It’s reasonable that many gamers would prefer to experience these tunes for the first time while playing, but it’s also perfectly acceptable to seek a preview of what’s ahead.
The soundtrack currently consists of 22 tracks, all crafted by Tomo Otowa, who has contributed music to a variety of games and films over his career.

In summary, it’s an excellent assortment of mood-setting melodies. A significant portion of the music incorporates traditional Japanese instruments, yet there is a distinctly clear intention of crafting it to sound reminiscent of the music you might encounter in a Western.
Considering that Ghost of Yotei unfolds in what is basically an untamed wilderness, this thematic approach fits flawlessly — particularly when you add Atsu’s pursuit of vengeance into the equation.
Will you take a moment to listen to the Ghost of Yotei soundtrack prior to the game’s launch? Or are you waiting for the game itself? Strum some shamisen strings in the comments below.

Robert (or Rob for short) is an assistant editor at Push Square, and has been an enthusiast of PlayStation since the 90s when Tekken 2 introduced him to the remarkable universe of video games. He still takes his fighting games earnestly, but RPGs are his genuine passion. The Witcher, Persona, Dragon Quest, Mass Effect, Final Fantasy, Trails, Tales — he has played them all. Some might suggest he’s indulged a bit too much.
