Publisher experiences yet another significant downturn

Suicide Squad Warner Bros

Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League has been an unprecedented failure for Warner Bros, and the company’s latest financial statements indicate that the ill-fated release is continuing to inflict damage.

The publisher faced a staggering 48% decline in gaming revenue during the initial quarter of 2025. Naturally, no new titles were introduced in that timeframe, but this downturn is partially a consequence of the ongoing effects of Suicide Squad’s massive failure.

A considerable investment was made into this project — which launched in February of the previous year — that its eventual debacle significantly disrupted Warner Bros’ other game development schedules.

Multiple projects were scrapped following the fallout from the Suicide Squad debacle, such as Wonder Woman, and Monolith — the studio behind Middle-earth: Shadow of War — was shut down. Additionally, MultiVersus’ gradual decline didn’t enhance the situation either.

Consequently, the publisher has once again pointed to the title’s poor sales as a primary reason for these new financial setbacks. We’re left speculating when Warner Bros will be able to publish a report without referencing Suicide Squad.

He remains serious about fighting games, but RPGs hold his heart. The Witcher, Persona, Dragon Quest, Mass Effect, Final Fantasy, Trails, Tales — he’s experienced them all. Perhaps a bit too much, according to some.
