Suddenly more in demand than ever before

Owing to this month’s May the 4th festivities, the fresh season in Fortnite, along with the second season of Andor, it appears that Star Wars enthusiasts are truly embracing the Force at present and have opted to return to Star Wars Battlefront 2 in large numbers.
The multiplayer-centric title from 2017 is witnessing a notable revival, with player tracking metrics soaring on PC, PlayStation, and Xbox. SteamDB indicates that gamers began flocking back to the title shortly after May 4th, and it has been gaining traction ever since. The PC variant is hitting just under 10,000 simultaneous players, which is quite close to the game’s all-time peak player count from over four years back.

Monitoring player numbers on consoles is more challenging, but last week, Star Wars Battlefront 2 ranked as the 22nd most played title on the Xbox platform, a noteworthy change since it typically does not place in the top 50. Simultaneously, on PlayStation, True Trophies analyzes a limited demographic of PS5, PS4 players, and the game re-emerged in the top 40 charts last week.
Star Wars Battlefront 2 was a divisive release when it first debuted years ago due to EA’s management of microtransactions. The game eventually revitalized and now enjoys a far better reputation for thrilling multiplayer encounters set in the Star Wars universe.
Although it is no longer receiving new content, you can purchase the Celebration Edition of the PS4 game for £8.74 / $9.99 until June 4th on the PS Store, should you wish to join the community returning to the title. It is also included in the EA Play subscription service.
