Could be a tremendous success

Sony has been notably sluggish in adopting mobile, despite its earnest attempts to launch a new venture in the smartphone arena.
The corporation recently closed down German studio Neon Koi before it could even release any titles, and there’s been considerable executive turnover in its struggling PS Mobile division.
However, a recent job announcement uncovered by Reddit appears to suggest that MLB The Show, one of PlayStation’s most significant and bestselling franchises in the US, is set to receive a mobile variant.
The advertisement for a Senior Product Manager at San Diego Studio highlights that “applicants will collaborate with Design, Production, Marketing, Data & Analytics, and numerous other fields to drive new product features and enhance existing ones to make MLB The Show Mobile an outstanding experience”.
MLB The Show 25 does have a Companion App that enables you to oversee your Diamond Dynasty roster while away from your PS5, but this appears distinctly like a spin-off title.
Responsibilities outlined in the job announcement feature terms such as “retention” and “monetisation strategies”, aspects one would expect to encounter in a contemporary mobile initiative.
It certainly makes sense to extend the series to mobile devices, as rival franchises like EA Sports FC, NBA 2K, and Madden NFL all possess their own mobile adaptations, which duplicate the presentation and atmosphere of their console versions while offering more tailored on-the-go experiences.
In this scenario, we’d anticipate that Diamond Dynasty will be the aspect transformed, letting you gather players and assemble your own god squads. We suspect gameplay will be streamlined for mobile, with shortened matches designed to suit the needs of brief play sessions.
Given the immense popularity of MLB The Show – it’s a perennial best-seller in the US – this appears to be an ideal match for Sony’s stagnant mobile strategy, particularly at a moment when the league has been keen for the platform holder to extend the franchise to as many platforms as feasible.
