Goodness gracious

Fans of the Lord of the Rings video game series have endured a challenging period; the latest entries have been mediocre to disappointing, including Return to Moria, Tales of the Shire, and of course, Gollum.
If the speculations hold merit, however, the forthcoming significant title in the series could rectify these misfortunes.
As noted over at Insider Gaming, a new entry in the Lord of the Rings franchise is under development, and has been for “some time” — which is not exactly unexpected, but that’s what their sources indicate.
Perhaps the most intriguing aspect is that these sources assert that the game will be a third-person action adventure aimed in part to “contend with Hogwarts Legacy“, which was undoubtedly a tremendous financial success.
The game is reportedly in negotiations to secure financing from the Abu Dhabi Investment Office, which would supposedly provide development with approximately $100 million. This agreement has not yet been finalized, and is presently being internally funded, according to the report.
Embracer Group possesses the IP within the gaming realm, and a studio called Revenge is seemingly engaged in the development process, among others. Both Embracer and Revenge have opted not to comment on the situation.
The Lord of the Rings has a spotty history in gaming, so it will be fascinating to see if this purported title can win back enthusiasts.
While we must regard this as a speculation for the time being, a new release in the series is hardly an unrealistic notion; we expect to witness it in the coming years.
