No, not Roman Cancelled

A new Guilty Gear title has allegedly been terminated at Arc System Works.
This comes from an exclusive piece by Insider Gaming, which regrettably provides limited details. It implies that the endeavor wasn’t completed, but it’s ambiguous how long the Japanese developer had been engaged with it.
Guilty Gear Strive debuted in 2021 and became a significant success for the company, to the point where it continues to receive support. Indeed, producer Ken Miyauchi recently mentioned that the studio has “big and thrilling” plans for the future of the title.
Naturally, Arc System Works is also heavily invested in Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls at the moment; the team-centric brawler has been in the works for at least the last few years.
It’s feasible that the developer found it necessary to reassess its focus after securing the Marvel Tokon initiative alongside PlayStation. For all we understand, the new Guilty Gear might have only existed in a conceptual phase before being terminated.
From our viewpoint, we wouldn’t be excessively worried about this cancellation. Guilty Gear is evidently in a robust condition, still accumulating sales and players over four years post its original release — and once more, Arc System Works seems more than willing to continue its support.
Nevertheless, one might assume that a new Guilty Gear is inevitable — yet we would be astonished to see it officially revealed, or even enter full development, prior to the launch of Marvel Tokon.

He still approaches his fighting games with seriousness, but RPGs are his genuine passion. The Witcher, Persona, Dragon Quest, Mass Effect, Final Fantasy, Trails, Tales — he has played them all. Some might argue, perhaps a little too much.
