Finland’s premier studio, Housemarque, is preparing to commemorate its 30th year in operation this year, and the team seems to be hinting at something intriguing for this milestone.
To clarify, Housemarque’s anniversary occurs on July 19th, so we anticipate that whatever is being hinted at will emerge around that time.
The developer recently posted a peculiar clip resembling found footage on its social media, complete with strangely overlayed audio:
The exact meaning of this teaser is somewhat ambiguous, but the comments section offers various theories.
Some users are excitedly mentioning Saros, the upcoming sequel to the studio’s phenomenal roguelike shooter, Returnal. Indeed, the team plans to showcase gameplay later this year, so it could potentially relate to that.
Other aspirations expressed in the comments include a PS5 Pro update for Returnal, a sequel to Resogun, a new Super Stardust, and even Alienation 2. Housemarque has certainly produced an impressive array of titles over the years, hasn’t it?
If we were to speculate on what this all signals… Could it be showcasing nostalgic behind-the-scenes videos from its formative days? Or, maybe the studio has discovered time travel, and this footage is from the ’90s?
Perhaps the Saros reveal trailer was a misdirect, and this game is actually an FMV adventure set in a Finnish game studio, with this being the gameplay reveal?
